Fishermen, Hunters & Campers - Tips for Safe Boating

People who hunt or fish from boats have one of the highest boating fatality rates, especially those who use boats 16 feet or smaller. Produced by the United Safe Boating Institute and funded through the U. S. Coast Guard and the U. S. Power Squadrons, this educational booklet covers topics such as distress signals, life jackets, how to load a boat, first aid, canoeing, operating rules, and more. Free limited quantities.

Small Craft Safety Program

This program was designed to meet the needs of camps and other organizations that conduct small craft activities. The Small Craft Safety Program provides individuals already skilled in one or more of small craft (canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and/or rowboats) with a core lesson of basic water rescue skills and knowledge needed for sell rescue and to assist others. The course also includes information on small craft accident prevention, trip planning, supervision, and emergency. Cost varies by location.
